Incredibly small snippet…

because I just watched through On The Head Of A Pin (4x16) and I just… couldn’t deal with my emotions.

Very G rated with the tiniest hint of spoilers and my headcanon for where this ship really began- because I definitely think that this was the start of their actual relationship. Yes. The end of this episode was totally the beginning.

“Find someone else… it’s not me.”

Castiel rises from the chair he’s sitting in beside the hospital bed, and stands over the broken, shattered shell of Dean Winchester. His hand trembles at his side and he can feel the vibration pull through his entire body as he lifts his arm and presses the palm of his hand against Dean’s tear-streaked cheek- Dean looks up at him, his eyes dim and face bloodied and Cas can’t stop himself from leaning down, close enough to let his breath ghost over Dean’s red and still-split lips,

“I have faith in you.”

It’s little more than a whisper and the dry slide of chapped lips against Dean’s and it burns Castiel through to the very core of himself to say it out loud- it sears through him with absolute truth and scares Cas more than anything else he’s ever felt.

Because he does have faith in him- in fact, Dean Winchester is starting to become the only thing he has faith in anymore.
